Emmaus 80

Welcome to Emmaus LXXX

November 12-14, 2021

Our Emmaus Teen Retreat is a spiritual weekend for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors, where our young people take a journey of discovery.

Discovering …

the joy of knowing who we really are as children of God and His intentions for us

God in ourselves and others

the gifts that God gives including the gift of himself through the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit

the heightened meaning this brings to the way that we live our lives and the help that God provides

The retreat name “Emmaus” is adopted from a reading in Luke's Gospel (24:13-35). Two of Jesus' disciples are on their way to a village named Emmaus on that first Easter Sunday when the risen Jesus joins them and converses with them about all that has happened over the last few days, but they do not recognize Him until that evening when He blesses and breaks bread with them.

The theme "Journey to Emmaus" reflects the message that Jesus is our constant companion through life's journey, though we often fail to recognize His presence.

Under the direction of our Pastor and through friendship, community, liturgies, laughter, music, reflection and personal witnessing, participants are offered a unique opportunity to experience spiritual growth, to better appreciate their Catholic faith, as well as to recognize, understand and more fully appreciate God's close and constant presence, every day of their life.

The retreats are sponsored by St. Aloysius Catholic Church and the work team is made up of teens and adults. The liturgies are all Roman Catholic, yet members of other Christian communities are also welcomed, as space permits.

COVID CONSIDERATIONS

We are collecting information on vaccination status, monitoring changing conditions and local/state mandates, as well as consulting with our retreat center, the diocese and medical personnel to determine special protocols that we will need to put in place for the retreat.  Keeping our candidates and team healthy is our number one concern! We will share information on these protocols closer to the retreat.
